On Quartile, Facing El Chapo scores 6.5/10 across five categories — strongest on Acting (Above Average), weakest on Plot (Below Average).
Two Mexican officers must survive the final hours of their shift after crossing a ruthless cartel boss.
A tense, real-world-inspired survival thriller that keeps the pace tight, but the premise — outnumbered cops vs. cartel — treads well-worn genre ground. The 'one last shift' structure is familiar, and while execution appears solid across acting and cinematography, nothing stands out as truly exceptional. Novelty is the weakest link given the derivative setup within an already crowded cartel-crime subgenre.
